And, by looking to her past to decide which traditions, which medicines, to pass on to her daughters-and which to leave behind-she began to root into the person she was meant to be. Reckoning with the hidden stories and aspects of her family and her Mexican American culture that were transforming and heartbreaking brought Robyn to an unshakable understanding of who she is and how she fits into this world. And finally, she went into the jungle of Belize and found healing in the most unexpected way. She had dramatic moments with her sisters, her mom, her husband, and herself. She took cooking lessons with a tough but tender-hearted Mexican chef and found community, and joy, in hiking. She reconnected with family she hadn’t spoken to in ages, and learned fantastical stories about her great-grandmother, Mama Natalia, who was a curandera. She learned about sustos-soul losses-and ser-your true essence. To save her soul, sanity, and family, Robyn quit her manic #mommyboss existence, and set out on a 260-day spiritual journey based on an ancient Mexica (Aztec) calendar, studying the medicine of her Mexican grandmothers: curanderismo. But the truth behind her well-curated pics was that Robyn was burnt out: in the midst of a full-on, midlife meltdown caused by that all-too-familiar working mom tightrope walk coupled with painful family drama. Your ancestors, with all their struggles, strength, and resilience, are your greatest guides.Īnyone scrolling through Robyn Moreno’s social media and seeing her with her adorable kids and taking the stage at empowerment conferences would have thought she had it all together. The alchemy for real personal transformation lies in digging up your own medicine and tools.

The duo also liberated the original dashboard of its instrumentation and filled in the holes that were left behind. The bars wear new grips, Motogadget bar-end mirrors, and sporty micro-switches from Rebel Moto. Tiago and Luis used the Kawasaki ZX-9R’s yokes and extended the forks to accommodate a set of raised clip-ons. The mighty CBX demands an appropriate exhaust, so the crew fitted a full six-into-one system from Delkevic. The transmission was rebuilt with shorter ratios, a new K&N filter was installed, and the carbs were tuned. Moving to the motor, Unik cleaned, repainted, and polished the entire thing for a factory-level aesthetic. They’re wrapped in modern Michelin sport-touring tires, with the rear tire’s width bumped up to 180. The gorgeous spoked tubeless wheels are from Kineo, measuring 17” at both ends. Lower down, the guys went to considerable effort to install the swooping swingarm from a Triumph Street Triple. (That’s the original Honda taillight back there, but it’s been cut and shut to take up less space.) The side covers now blend seamlessly into the tail unit, and the whole thing tapers down to accommodate a slimmer taillight. The modifications are as clever as they are subtle. The leather seat is all-new, but it’s been styled with the sort of chunkiness that an early-80s sport tourer demands. The subframe was shortened before the CBX 1000’s OEM tail unit was cut, trimmed, and put back together. They’re from a 1994 Kawasaki ZX-9R, which also donated its twin front and single rear Nissin brake calipers. Keen eyes will also spot a set of upside-down forks. A tinted windshield adds an extra hit of retro style to the CBX’s visage. The square headlight housing was retrofitted with an LED unit, and the front fender was swapped for a more modern-looking part. As a result, the front fairing, the fuel tank, the rear fairing, and the rear brake light all stood as a testament to the motorcycle’s heritage, allowing enthusiasts to trace its lineage effortlessly.”Īt the front, Tiago and Luis removed the fairing’s lower extensions and trimmed the main unit down for a slimmer look. “The transformation was not about erasing the past, but rather, enhancing it. “Preserving the most significant elements of the Honda CBX 1000 became a guiding principle for us,” says Tiago. The idea was to retain the CBX’s retro sport-touring DNA but give it a fresh aesthetic. Tiago and his partner-in-crime, Luis Gonçalves (no, they’re not brothers), were tasked with turning the Honda CBX 1000 into a stylish restomod with a host of modern upgrades. “This revelation laid the foundation for a transformative project, one that would honor the motorcycle’s origins while infusing it with a new identity.” “In the eyes of this enthusiast, the engine wasn’t just a mechanical marvel it was the soul of the motorcycle, much like the heart in a human body,” says Tiago Gonçalves, founder of the Portuguese custom shop, Unik Edition. When he found the CBX, the sheer brutalism of its six-cylinder engine was impossible to ignore. Enamored with the fusion of modern technology and ancient traditions found in Japanese cities like Tokyo and Kyoto, he was on the hunt for a classic motorcycle that embodied that philosophy. It’s that mystique that prompted the owner of this 1982 Honda CBX 1000 Pro-Link to buy it. If you park a CBX and CBX-B next to each other, you could argue that the latter has more presence. It was a hair less powerful than before, but that didn’t stop it from becoming a legend in its own right. The updated ‘CBX-B’ had a touring fairing, optional panniers, and Honda’s new-at-the-time Pro-Link mono-shock setup. So the Japanese marque redesigned it as a sport tourer, halfway through its tenure. First released it in 1978 as a screaming six-cylinder naked superbike, it later faced stiff competition from its stablemate-the equally iconic CB900F. The Honda CBX 1000 was only in production for four years, but that was enough time for it to leave a lasting impression on the motorcycle industry. You could see the two different worlds that both Chubby and Paulie lived in and how they just couldn't come to any common ground on just a simple matter like that. Chubby loses it when Paulie not only refused to show up at the party but didn't even want to sign a birthday card for his father that Chubby gave him. Chubby tried to get both father and son back together later by going to Buccellati jewelry on Fifth Avenue where Paulie worked to get him to attend his fathers birthday party. Another great scene in "Bloodbrothers" was a talk between Chubby and his friend and bar owner Banion, Kenneth McMillan, on how he threw his son Paulie, Bruce French, out of the house when he found out that he was gay. When Tommy finds out about this supposed affair ,from a phone call from Jackie's mother, he goes haywire and almost kills Marie and ends up himself in the hospital with what seemed like an emotional breakdown. There's also Tommy's womanizing that leads his wife Marie, Lelia Goldoni, to try to have an affair with that weirdo Jackie, Raymond Singer, who lives in her apartment building who always had eyes for her. Being the sensitive type Stony finds it hard to live up to his father Tommy macho image and how that mindset effects his little brother Albert who's suffering from emotional problems due to having sever eating disorders. Stony at first trying to live and work like his father Tommy and uncle Chubby wanted him to he then begins to slowly lose his interest. Powerhouse performances by Tony Lo Bianco, Tommy De Coco, Paul Sorvino, Chubby De Coco and a very young and electrifying Richard Gere as Stony De Coco in one of his first major movie roles that showed the great talent that he had long before he became a top Hollywood super-star. In hospital Stony want's to work with and help young children who have severe emotional problems like his little brother Albert, Michael Hershewe. The De Coco's have a son that's torn between being a construction worker and working as a recreational assistant at a local hospital. So, it is likely a print-quality file will not work. Twitter also has specific requirements for uploading a Twitter profile photo.Ī summary of most requirements includes being sure to use a JPEG, GIF or PNG file. Some professionals might want to use the Twitter profile photo as an opportunity to post a headshot. It is well understood by recruiters that smartphone shots or selfies are poor taste professionally. LinkedIn also recommends using a professional photographer for this. They involve making sure you use a professionally taken photo to avoid the pitfalls that can happen if you do not. However, there are at least three other things to consider for a LinkedIn or a corporate headshot. For example, if you author an article the magazine you worked with might need an 8” x 10” crop, in which case that circular crop you have will not work. So, when you get a corporate headshot, you might want to be sure the finished file is adaptable to more than one use. Keep in mind that for corporate headshots, you probably want them for multiple business uses. These can range from square to rectangular to circular crops. New corporate headshots might be for the redesigned website, in which case the web designer or project manager might have desired specifications. Nowadays these are almost always for online applications. Corporate Headshot Photo Sizeįor corporate use, most of the time the size will be driven by the application. To the human eye, the quality between this file and the print-quality file on a digital screen should not be noticeable, other than it might be slightly smaller. This can be a JPEG file that is smaller in size in terms of dimensions and storage requirements. Most photographers provide actors with a web-optimized image. But, like with Actor’s Access, upload and then check that Backstage didn’t over-crunch your headshot, especially since the highest quality is important. Otherwise, you should try to compress the file yourself to the lowest tolerance of losing quality and try to upload that file and see if the system does not compress it further.īackstage’s file specifications are more broad and it appears crop factor is not limited and max file size is up to 10 MB, which is often enough for a print quality 8×10. So, you should try to upload a print quality file first to see if it is compressed awfully by their system or if the resolution holds up. What is not specified is the max file size. You can take a common 8×10″ headshot and crop into a 5×7 but not the other way around. Such websites might have a file-size limit and a print-quality file might exceed these limits.Ĭurrently, Actor’s Access specifies files should be 500 x 700 pixels, which translates to a 5×7 crop. Actors will commonly need to upload a headshot to websites like Actor’s Access or Backstage. You will also want to have a web-optimized file. Unique attributes of these cards is that they are always green, the card value is always 0, and the picture on the card is a green Mickey Mouse insignia, like the Keychain attached to the Keyblade. Gimmick Cards - Gimmick cards only appear during certain boss battles. These have black borders, and cannot be used in sleights. Enemy cards - Based off of enemies or bosses and can temporarily give Sora (or Riku) better offensive or defensive capabilities. These have green borders, like Item cards. Friend cards - Appear in the battlefield at certain times for pickup and can summon an ally to help fight. There are three types of cards that are different from the other cards in battle: These can only be used once per battle, and have green borders. Item cards - Used to restore Attack cards or Magic cards with Potions or Ethers, respectively.Magic cards - Unleashes magic spells, such as Fire, Ice, Thunder, Cure, and Gravity. These are depicted by different types of Keyblades and have red borders. Attack cards - The most common way to attack, as the name suggests. If a player runs out of cards in the deck, they have to reload, leaving you vunerable to an attack. For example, if a player has 5 different cards with CP of 15, 20, 30, 25, and 15, then they would have to have a total CP would then be 105 or greater to put all five cards in the deck. Players can raise their CP by leveling up Sora, thus being able to hold more cards. Each card has an individual CP value, which is based on how powerful the card is, and the total CP of all the cards in a deck cannot be higher than a player's, or a maximum of 99 cards. The total number of cards a deck can contain is determined by a player's Card Points ( CP). Attacks are represented by cards with different values and abilities. The "Card System" is a new battle system that was introduced to the Kingdom Hearts series with Chain of Memories. The Deck Menu in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories Some map cards can only be obtained after getting further into the story for each of the different worlds. To obtain a map card you must defeat Heartless. What appears in each room depends on what card was used to generate that room. Map cards are used to create rooms on each floor of the castle. Using these cards is the only way to attack. The battle system now revolves around Sora's memories, represented as cards. Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories follows a totally new battle system as well as gameplay. Meanwhile, Riku awakens down in the castle, and as he goes up the basement levels of Castle Oblivion, he must take control of the inner darkness inside of him, dealing with Ansem, the Riku Replica, and three members of Organization XIII Vexen, Lexaeus, and Zexion, along the way. This escalates to a final battle in the end, for Sora's life, and Naminé's freedom. It turns out she is good and is manipulating his memories under the orders of the head of the castle, Marluxia. A Nobody named Naminé begins to replace memories of Kairi with fake ones of herself. Sora, Donald, and Goofy go through each floor, experiencing their memories, all of which are somehow distorted, each in a different way. Sora battles him, and when Axel is defeated, he gives him more cards, disappearing soon after. Another cloaked man appears and introduces himself as Axel. The man appears once more after they arrive on the next floor. The first world they go to is Traverse Town, where they discover that Leon, Aerith, Yuffie, and Cid have forgotten all about them, yet they strangely remember Sora's, Donald's, and Goofy's names, where Yuffie comments, "You're not in my memory, but my heart remembers you." After Leon gives Sora a tutorial on fighting and gives Sora a Simba summon card, they leave Traverse Town. They use the card to proceed through the castle. The cloaked man appears as they enter the castle and gives them a Cards. The path becomes one and it leads them to Castle Oblivion. While deciding which path to take, a mysterious man in a black cloak approaches Sora and speaks to him, but at that moment his words are incomprehensible. Sora, Donald and Goofy walk down a long path that seemingly goes nowhere. |
